Birmingham City Council and RESCO have successfully secured European Regional Development Funding (ERDF) to trial and monitor a range of innovative low carbon technologies/ measures in existing housing stock in Birmingham.

The AIM HIGH initiative is focusing on traditional low- rise housing, field-testing at least seven energy-efficiency measures across 348 homes. As part of this large-scale trial, selected technologies are being monitored both during installation and in day-to-day use, thereby showcasing their effectiveness in real homes.

By demonstrating low carbon technologies in use, AIM HIGH also reduces existing supply-chain barriers and helps West Midlands companies exploit market opportunities in the growing housing refurbishment sector.

RHI won a contract on the Aim High project and worked with Worcester Bosch to install A-rated boilers and weather compensating controls to 100 properties in the Birmingham area. (We subsequently won the Worcester Bosch Environmental 2020 award.)
